David and his family joined us at the annual Keller ISD American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Campus Walk in May 2022. David set up a booth to provide information about The Peyton Heart Project, stood on stage to represent individuals who have lost a child to suicide, and also served as the keynote speaker for the event. David's words resonated within our community. The adults and students alike were touched by his vulnerability and passion as he told Peyton's story. One of the ways we eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide prevention is by sharing our stories and giving the cause a face. We are thankful he joined us and shared his journey.

Thank you David for being a speaker at our suicide prevention walk. I don’t believe there was anyone in attendance on that day that didn’t stop to listen as you spoke of your son and your journey after losing him to suicide. You inspired many to continue fighting for a future with better mental health care for all and to know that they are not alone in their loss. Thank you for all you do for suicide prevention.

Through The Peyton Heart Project, David has given his family’s unimaginable pain a purpose. David very inspirationally speaks light to the very dark and difficult subject of suicide and bullying. The most powerful force in the world is hope, and David’s story gives us all hope so very well.

David James shares a powerful message through vulnerability and strength. He is taking Peyton’s story and saving lives, sharing about the importance of kindness, while trying to prevent his tragedy from happening to anyone else.

Montgomery ISD had the privilege of David James speaking at our parent night on mental health. The message was powerful and moving—not a dry eye in the building. His message was personal, yet informative and provided our parents with tools they can use with their own children. Our campuses are reaching out for opportunities for him to return to speak directly to our students. His message is one worth hearing and sharing!
